In the summer of 2015 I was commissioned to shoot the Hartford Family Winery, in Forestville, California. The job consisted of a location photo shoot of this beautiful chateau-like estate in the Russian River appellation of Sonoma County. A shot of the winery was desired for display in their new tasting room in downtown Healdsburg. In review of the final processed images with tasting room designer Toni McWilliams, we discussed the possibility of creating a digital painting, instead of a standard photo print. We made a selection based on that decision, and chose a painting style suitable for the tasting room. The final digital painting was then printed on canvas and framed in a neoclassical style.
I have always been interested in digital painting and have studied analog art for many years as a prerequisite. My digital process is not computer generated. Each project is almost 100% hand-created, just as any artist would, choosing my brushes, paints and media. The end result is an original work of art, and cannot be reproduced by a digital program. The Hartford Estate painting now resides in the Hartford Family Wines tasting room, in Healdsburg. If you have reached this blog with interest in a digital painting project, I welcome your inquiries.
